A customer approached us with a request to address his problem with a leaking mechanical seal. The system was running in the Far East and local experts suspected that the mechanical seal was not the actual problem, but that the bearing assembly was the cause of the problem.

Ihb Service was invited by the system manufacturer to take a closer look at the matter and then - in consultation with SKF Engineering and other service partners in the production area - submitted a new proposal for such a bearing assembly to the customer.

As this group weighed around 500 kg, it was built on site, stored, preloaded and supplied with sufficient oil so that it would not only survive transportation but also the storage period until commissioning without any worries.

The agitator with this newly designed bearing assembly was then successfully put into operation around 1 year later and has been running since then without any further failures.
