Lubricants - SKF factory filling of sealed variants

In addition to the SKF lubricants that customers can obtain from specialist dealers, there is also a whole range of lubricants that SKF uses in its capacity as a rolling bearing manufacturer in the production of factory-sealed bearings and/or refers to with further information.

If special lubricants - e.g. with certain approvals - are used,
these products are marked with special SKF suffixes.
SKF suffixes can also express various product properties of a rolling bearing, of which a specific lubricant in turn only forms part of a specific suffix.

Example SKF deep groove ball bearing: W 6201-2RS1/VP311
... SKF prefix "W" = stainless steel version
... SKF suffix "2RS1" = contact seal, NBR, on both sides
... SKF suffix "VP311" = SKF Food-Line bearing with the food-compatible SKF grease LGFG2 and blue-colored contact seals made of acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (NBR),
both of which are approved by the NSF for category H1, Kosher, Halal.

In the SKF main catalog 10000, a distinction is made between lubricants according to series:
- Deep groove ball bearings, pages 304-306*
- Y-bearings, pages 431-432*
- Angular contact ball bearings, page 483*
- Self-aligning ball bearings, page 540*
- Needle roller bearings, page 698*
- Spherical roller bearings, page 885*
- CARB, page 962*
- Track rollers, yoke type track rollers and cam followers, page 1112*

In contrast to standard SKF lubricants, no data sheets are available for
