PRECISION STEEL SHAFTS
Precision steel shafts are available as solid or hollow shafts.
Solid shafts are available in all diameters required for linear ball bearings, hollow shafts from 16 mm outer diameter.
Precision steel shafts are induction hardened and centerless ground.
Shafts feature particularly high dimensional stability and a long service life.
Shafts manufactured to length may exhibit deviations in hardness and dimensional accuracy at the ends.
For special installation applications, solid shafts made of stainless steel or hard chrome-plated shafts with a chrome layer thickness of approx. 10 µm can be supplied.
When using shafts made of stainless steel, it should be noted that these do not have the same high surface hardness values as standard shafts. In addition, the hardening depths may be greater, which can affect the machinability of the shaft.
Due to their advantageous properties, precision steel shafts are not only used together with linear ball bearings in shaft guides, but are also used, for example, as axles or guide columns.
MATERIAL
Precision steel shafts are usually made from unalloyed stainless steels Cf53 (material no. 1.1213), Ck53 (material no. 1.1210), C60 (material no. 1.0601) and 100Cr6 (material no. 1.3505) and have a surface hardness of approx. 60 to 64 HRC.
The solid shafts made of stainless steel are manufactured from X9OCrMoV18 (material no. 1.4112) or X46Cr13 (material no. 1.4034). Their surface hardness is between 52 and 56 HRC.
The surface quality of the precision steel shafts has a roughness measurement of Ra max. 0.3 µm.
