Flat seal

Flat gaskets are static gaskets and are used, for example, in apparatus engineering between two surfaces, or in pipeline construction mainly between two flanges, etc.

Variants can be, for example Flanges, standardized, Holländer, screw connections (raccords), spiral wound gaskets, comb profile gaskets, boiler gaskets, O-rings, cylinder head gaskets, etc...

Application criteria such as: Stress, chemical resistance, pressures, fluids, temperatures, ...

Materials such as: Aramid fiber, elastomers, rubber, carbon fiber, copper, metal, mineral fiber, PTFE, compressed fibers,...

Jacketed flat gaskets, for example, have a core material/flat gasket material which is usually encased in a PTFE or metal sheath. Put simply, the sheath acts as protection against the medium, while the core only has a supporting function.

Flexible metal gaskets are either mounted in a groove in a flange or in conjunction with support rings.

Solid metal gaskets are used for higher stresses (e.g. chemical stresses) and are generally made of stainless steel, nickel, steel, titanium, etc.

Not only the corresponding pressure, the corresponding medium or the corresponding temperature are decisive for the selection of a suitable sealing solution! In principle, yes, but the flat gaskets discussed here, for example, are often only available from the original manufacturer with longer delivery times.
